You have to love the moniker assigned to the stunning new member of the Girard-Perregaux lineup. There's something quite compelling about the idea of controlling time on a world wide scale! For international financiers, or anyone who loves watches and has a taste for the markets; there's a special member of the ww.tc family: the ww.tc - Financial.
At the base of the GP World Wide Time Control Financial is a world class world timer that simultaneously displays the local time in 24 'leading' cities around the world. Synchronized with the hour hand, this display is a 'set it and forget it' proposition. The world's major cities are displayed in two-tiers around the dial rail in an arrangement that's actually quite easy to read. To meet the needs of market watchers, there's a 'Financial' function that let's you know when the globe's major stock exchanges are open for business. To accomplish this, there's a 24 hour ring inside of the 'world city track' that moves in a counter-clockwise direction. A red-arrow at the 9 o'clock position on the 24 hour ring indicates the opening time as it passes through the exchanges business hours. The New York and Hong Kong exchanges are indicated in red - the London and Tokyo exchanges indicated in blue. If the red arrow is within the red or blue arc of a given exchange, trading is underway.
The ww.tc Financial is also a chronograph that's controlled with two pushers in the traditional arrangement. There's a date display at 1:30 to cover all bases. The crown on the left side of the case is used to adjust the 24-hour ring whenever you change time zones as all of the world time and market hour indications depend on an accurate relationship between the 24-hour ring and local time.
There's a sapphire crystal caseback that displays the GP Caliber 33CO movement. The ww.tc Financial is shod with a crocodile strap that's secured with a deployant buckle.
The Girard-Perregaux World Wide Time Control - Financial can be had in either stainless steel or gold. The case is 43mm wide and just under 14mm thick. It's comfortable to wear - large enough to be noticeable on your wrist and just thin enough to slide beneath a dress shirt cuff.
Production is limited to 500 pieces.
